Alas, we soon sold it.<br />I agree that tween in this sense is a portmanteau. Alan at age 55 has become a tween. He is on the verge of leaving home and is striving for independence. I was perturbed by the negativity, at first, but now see that this is a healthy and necessary step towards separation for both of us.<br />I can relate to those who find the lack of response from our sons or grandsons upsetting.
