Notes from C.C.:
Questions for iPhone/iPad users, can you tell us in the Comments section whether you can play below video clip on your mobile device. Please also let us know what browser you're using. Safari or Chrome?
We presume Android users have no problem watching the clip. If you do, let us know also.
Nice and easy does it for today. The grid almost filled itself in. No complaints.
ReplyDeleteHM, you inspire me to start with my "complaint." DERAT. Uggh. I know it is a real word but...
ReplyDeleteA nice easy-breezy Monday with the joy of a Boomer write-up. Craig, you left out our favorite "auto" Correct copy: EDIT.
Boomer, I am with you on the XKE and the Thunderbird. I will add Benedictine & Brandy as my B and B of choice.
A CSO to my oldest with ΦΒΚ. In the words of Lloyd Bentsen, "Uma, you are no Diana Rigg."
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteVery quick, but d-otto missed the AUTO theme. Natch. He also missed seeing DERAT, and is grateful for that. Thanx, Craig and Boomer (DW pronounces bass boat as "base" boat.)
IBM: Today those letters don't stand for anything. Like NCR, IBM dropped the words in favor of just the three letters.
EMBARRASS: That's the name of a small town (pop. approx. 400) in the county where I grew up. I've often wondered how it got its name, so I looked it up: "Many of the early lumberjacks in the town were French Canadians. When they tried to send logs down the river they found it almost impossible because of the many snags and other debris, so they named it the Riviere Embarrase, embarrase being a French word meaning to impede, to obstruct, or to entangle." per WIKI. Who knew?
BTW, can't see the image at the bottom of the blog, so there's nothing to click on. That's using FireFox on an IPhone. Same story using Safari.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Craig, for the nice Monday puzzle. Saw the theme and FIR. Good start to the week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Boomer, for your entertaining comments. I didn't see a video clip below C.C.'s request. It probably doesn't apply to me as an Android user anyway.
Starting out with the acrosses, I filled in quite a bit. Put EYE for observe before needing it later. Not reading carefully I put sen/GOV and spike/CLEAT. Having had three soccer-playing children, I should have gotten the last one easily. Perps straightened it all out. Hadn't thought of SPARERIBs as a snack. YUM?
Have a productive day.
I didn't see the theme. The theme itself was fun, but IMO the reveal was expressed awkwardly. EVANS was the only unfamiliar fill.
ReplyDeleteLove edamame, a healthy snack. In the Chinese restaurant you can get spare ribs as a snack or as a entree. Dave makes the most delicious ribs on the grill.
Since I get full more quickly these days, sometimes I order an appetizer as my entree. Then no dessert. When in a group sometimes we order appetizers and desserts to share.
Still running down medical insurance issues. My primary insurance, Aetna, has become more user friendly, but the medical part of auto insurance is cumbersome. I am dealing with three entities just for medical. One hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing.
Do you get dozens of robo calls about Medicare? My premium is part of my retirement benefits if I stick with Aetna.
Good morning. Thank you, Craig, and thank you, Boomer.
ReplyDeleteCartunes ? :>) That one made me chuckle, Boomer. Made me think of road trip songs.
IBM ? I've Been Moved ?
Over 90 % of the the putts that don't make it to the hole don't go in. :>)
The Minneapolis Millers ? Not too bad of a moniker. After the Atlanta Braves won 29-9 the other day, there was an article about a team that beat the Boston Beaneaters by 20 runs in the very early days of baseball. What happened to that team ? They must have run out of gas.
The Twins took 2 of 3 against the White Sox earlier this month at Target Field, the rebuilding (rebuilt ?) White Sox are hosting the Twins in a 4 game series at Guaranteed Rate Field starting tonight. Big, big series, with a lot on the line. I'll be watching. I'm sure Boomer will be watching as well !
Did you notice they no longer post attendance estimates in the Box Scores ?
ALbert Pujols hit # 660 yesterday, tying Willie Mays for 5th all time.
If you like the look of the Jaguar XKE, check out the 2020 Toyota Supra.
Lemonade 714: I agree and add my uggh to your uggh! Can we pitch them in a box and send them
ReplyDeleteto the board of moral decency towards abused words for a review of the word? Which one? Uggh, I won't even say it anymore. lol (The Whoo)
Good morning everyone.
ReplyDeleteSo we hit the 'reset' button' and start on Monday difficulty again. Nice puzzle from Craig. No wite-out was needed. Fill was right and entries were entered under the right numbers. OK theme, but didn't really use it. Yesterday we had SAND PILE; today we had MASON which he/she uses to make mortar. Agree with Boomer about AMPS; make sure your circuit breakers are correctly sized by a knowledgeable electrician. Graybar switchgear is a plus. CSO to HG on OMAHA where he gets his steaks.Favorite clue/fill was for TEA.
BOOMER, thanks for the SO. (Picture was taken in May, 1961.)
Mind your rudder; stay on course.
Neither Mae West (Why don’t you come up sometime and see me?) nor Cagney (You dirty yellow-bellied rat) said those quotes exactly
ReplyDeleteI can view the video clip on my IPad using Safari
ReplyDeleteDO, interesting that the town name, Embarrass, came from embarrase, French for impede. And in Spanish, embarazado means pregnant. You cannot always guess the meaning of foreign words which look similar to English ones.
ReplyDeletePREGO in English slang mean pregnant. PREGO in Italian means You're welcome, among other polite words.
Mae West's original line was, "Why don’t you come up sometime and see me?" She changed it to "Come up and see me sometime" in her next movie, I'm No Angel. This came to be her signature line.
I think maybe I have my insurance straightened out. I thought I was set on Fri. until I got another phone message over the weekend.
I finally got under the 4-minute mark. 3:56 today. Even took a few seconds to realize I had left the "d" out of Urdu.
ReplyDeleteDon't know "Hess" or whatever he/she wrote. I'm not a fan of "derat" as a word (neither is spellcheck).
Good Morning:
ReplyDeleteThis was as easy as a Monday could be, yet the theme was a mystery until the reveal, which I thought was as clever as all get out! Thumbs down on De-rat but thumbs up on Rea/Tea, Egg crossing Ovule, and Amp Up dueling Let Up. No w/os and no unknowns. CSOs to Spitz and DO/Naval, Abejo/Tea (Hope he’s feeling better); and HG/Omaha. (Spitz, great picture!)
Thanks, Craig, for a fun solve and thanks, Boomer, for the Monday meandering down Memory Lane and your effervescent expo!
I could play the video and my browser is Brave.
My brother, Jack, surprised me yesterday with two cooked lobster, fresh off the boat in Maine. He even “de-lobstered” them, using a tool that looked like it could dissect an alligator! Lobster roll for lunch coming up! 🦞
Have a great day.
I became a texting maven as soon as I became aware of it. Addictive
ReplyDeleteFrog cheated by hanging on foxes tail. Foxes today mimic the croak of a frog by saying " belli-chek,belli-chek". the race
I use Android on google cellphone and didn't see a clip under CC's comment. I seem to have missed some from the weekend that were referred to.
Re. "PUTTing it mildly". I'm guessing
"ALICE!" is a no-no. At least for mixed foursomes. Then again, peeing behind a tree I found was also frowned at. So much for organizing a woman's league. Not to speak of the designation: A and B. But I needed the numbers to hold the T-time.*
WC
* So I'm about to chip after the lady has hit on. She wants me to wait while she runs up and marks. I say "We don't do that in twilight golf". And my chip hits her ball and stays on the green. I swear I heard her muttering "belli-chek", after I made par.
Yes, this was easy. So is Tuesday. But we have clever constructors on Wed-Fri. I'm in bed with hopefully just a cold so I solved up to Saturday.
DeleteI'll probably do that later this am.
Hi Y'all! Great puzzle, Craig! Great expo, Boomer!
ReplyDeleteHandup for needing Boomer to 'splain the theme or for Boomer to tell us what C.C. 'splained! Whichever. Thanks.
I was surprised we had AMP UP, LET UP, TUNEUPS, FOCUS GRO-UPS & AESOP. Is all that upsy-daisy Kosher in CW rules?
EDAMAME: Do you cook and eat the pods along with the soybeans? Soybeans are raised on my farms, but I only cooked the beans like I would navy beans and ate them once. Family members didn't like them.
Can't open the video on my IMAC using an outdated Safari. Can't open a lot of the clips presented regularly here.
Wow, Spitz, you were certainly handsome in uniform! Very spiffy! Does anyone say that anymore? Well, I guess I just did!
PK, from my experience, all beans should only be eaten once. The second time is rather disgusting.
ReplyDeleteMusings
ReplyDelete-I have two autographs – Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Hays inside his book Lost Moon and Konrad Dannenberg who was the last surviving Nazi rocket scientist at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL who came over with Werner von Braun after WWII
-A basketball bricklayer
-I’m sure Craig winced before using DERAT in his fun puzzle. Any port in a storm
-Good looking sailor!
-Is not being able to DEDUCE the theme make for at least a partial FIW?
-POR favor : Spanish = برائے مہربانی : URDU
-We live 20 minutes from BOYS TOWN but did not tour it until a two years ago. Do you live near a famous place you have yet to visit?
-BOYS TOWN was 10 miles from OMAHA in my yute, but is fast becoming midtown
-It is now just KFC because they dropped what the F stands for
Doesn't get much easier than today. Congrats Anon on breaking the four minute barrier. However, I don't think you'll make it on the national news tonight. Great men's tennis final yesterday. What supreme efforts both guys displayed, not to mention what supreme sportsmanship at the end. It even got this stoic, staid German a bit choked up.
ReplyDeleteS, should be Shankers above.
ReplyDeleteThe video doesn't even show up on my IPhone using Chrome - I can see and play it on my desktop using Chrome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Boomer for an amusing morning as always - and Craig for the puzzle!
ReplyDeleteCC, there was nothing to click on using my IPhone and Safari but it worked on my IPad Mini using Google and Safari.
After bragging about my Saturday conquest the Crossword gods decided to punish me for my hubris.
ReplyDeleteThe Recurring motif of this puzzle should have been "Girls don't make passes at cruciverbalists who where foggy glasses." To wit...I misread 2D as "overheat then mistakenly thought 3D "humiliate" belonged in 2D and wrote in Abase.
After that inky fiasco. In the SW corner I put "ceded" instead of CAVED even though I knew somehow it had to be NAVAL. I was so confused I dare say I DNF a Monday puzzle (*** hangs head in shame***)
I would never have parsed the real theme anyway.
Sadie Hawkins Day brings back fond college memories of Coeds dressed like
Daisy Mae (which tranlates scantily.)
Our grade school Art teacher went to school with a Al Capp. She said he was a nice guy, great talent but suffered from a painful limp from a prostheric leg after a traumatic childhood amputation.
Anyway for my CW transgressons....
1A's boy......MASON.
Asked what role she played in "007" films, Dame Judy replied, " ____ "......IBM
Milking cows brought out the "farmer" in _____ ADELE.
Two Family cars in the garage.....AUTOMATES
Drag along candy mints in an plastic ejector .....PESTO
Drag along candy mints in a plastic container....TICKTACKTOE
Better luck on Tuesday...(***shakes fist at the CW gods***)
The Daisy Mae pic didn't make it. Shouldnt have shaken my fist...sorry guys
ReplyDeleteS/Shankers: Thanks. One of my goals has been to avoid ever being on the nightly news -- nothing good happens there anymore.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous Monday. Thanks for the fun, Craig and Boomer.
ReplyDeleteI FIRed in good Monday time (but not under 4 minutes- congrats Anon@8:52) with just one inkblot (a momentary inking of Ceded before realizing CAVED fit the clue more appropriately - hi Ray'o).
The theme took a moment to connect, as I saw FOCUS as an AUTO but MOBILE, GRAPH and TUNE did not fit. Ah, AUTO MATES.
DREAM CAR placed centre-right in the grid was an added theme touch!
I noted several M endings in the top half (IBM, A TEAM, RAM, YUM) but then they LET UP.
I think of rain letting up as stopping, not becoming more gentle. Just my word usage perhaps.
Yes IM & PK, I noticed LET UP and AMP UP as a slight dupe. Interesting how the meanings differ (Stop vs. Increase).
Hand up for uttering a huge MEH! at DERAT. But Merriam Webster lists it as a word. Perhaps DE-words will join our hated A-words!
I wanted Ovum before OVULE. Ovum is the egg cell in animals, while OVULE is the structure in a plant that develops into a seed. And we had SEEDY next! (IM beat me to EGG-but it didn't quite cross)
If you "dug in", I doubt you would say that you ATE just one SPARERIB! That would be a very small snack IMO.
Wishing you all a great day.
Ray'o - you may not have FIRed today but you gave me a few laughs (guffaw with IBM!)
C.C. I can see and play that video clip (although I hate that stupid wrestling!) on my iPad mini using Safari.
DERAT sticks out in this otherwise very fine puzzle. I understand it is an actual word, but my personal vote would have been to re-work that section to have avoided it, particularly for a Monday puzzle.
ReplyDeleteSwampCat - I believe it was you who introduced me to the Louise Penny books.
ReplyDeleteInteresting newspaper article today that you might enjoy. (Unfortunately, you cannot cross the border yet)
ThreePines
I have her newest book, All the Devils are Here, on hold on Overdrive, with estimated 8 week delivery date. I'm looking forward to reading it.
No video on my iPhone, video on my iPad Safari on both
ReplyDeleteIf you get rid of derat, also consider losing eke and uey. Just saying..
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteNice and Easy Monday puzzle, but I didn't get the theme until Boomer explained it.
I didn't know EVANS, but perps filled it in. ADELE had to be the one named singer, although there are others.
DERAT was a little clunky. What if the vermin were mice, would it be DEMOUSE or DEMICE instead?
I successfully did CC's Sunday LA Times puzzle in the Washington Post yesterday in pencil and paper along with a little bit of eraser. I saw the theme early and was able to use it to my advantage. Good puzzle CC.
HG @ 10:00am: I worked for Fred Haise for a number of years and I have his autograph also. Mostly on performance reviews and some other documents. Jim Lovell wrote "Lost Moon".
When I was growing up in central Pennsylvania there were a number of natural and man-made wonders that I never saw until I moved back here too retire. There are still some I need to see. However, when I lived in NYC and DC I got to see most of the sights because every time company visited I had to take them on a tour to all of the sights, museums and attractions. DW, however rarely got to go because of kids or work.
Have a great day everyone and please wear your masks.
I can view the video clip on my IPad using Safari
ReplyDeleteThe video is not on my iphone using Safari. Also tried my iphone using Firefox and it also is not there.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between soybeans and edamame is in the level of maturity when the beans are harvested. Mature soybeans are a light cream color while edamame is harvested when the beans are still young, soft and green.
ReplyDeleteTo boil: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and salt it generously. Add the edamame in their pods, return to a boil and cook until bright green, 3 to 5 minutes. Drain.
To microwave: Put the edamame in a microwave-safe dish with ¼ cup water and a pinch of salt, cover partly and microwave on high until bright green, 1 to 5 minutes, depending on your microwave power.
The shells are not edible. We squeeze the shell to pop the edamame right into our mouths. Fun to eat.
PK, maybe your soy beans were too mature.
Musings
ReplyDelete-oc4 – The book Lost Moon is right on the shelf here and I see Jim Lovell’s name as the author (which I knew anyway) on the spine but I best remember hearing Fred talk to us at a dinner and should have said “inside the book about Apollo 13 where he was a crew member.” I see I even misspelled his name. I think I’ll go and open that book and look at his autograph again. :-) Thanks for the gentle reminder.
-One thing Fred told us was the movie invented a lot of drama that never happened. Fred quoted director Ron Howard as having said, “We have to put in some conflict or we won’t sell much popcorn!”
-Yellowrocks - I sent you an email but you must not have seen it yet.
Thank you Mr. Stowe for a beautiful Monday puzzle, and Boomer, as always, for your humorous review.
ReplyDeleteI was not familiar with the Frog and the Fox, so I learnt something new. Of course, I was aware of The only one fabulous fabelist. So, I hied to your review ... and found out that the frog must have been very smart indeed ... in the very next sentence he turned into a turtle ... which, must have been an improvement, I suppose. ;-)
On that matter of fables, may I recommend, an indian set of fables, Panchatantra, 5 Tales, Wiki. I have 5 copies of this book, .... they are a long but very pleasant reading. If you decide to buy or borrow this book from a library, I Highly Recommend that you ONLY consider the Arthur W. Ryder translation ... which, in my opinion, is 10 times better than the original source, whatever it was.
Uma, is the name of an indian mythology goddess, an alternate name for Parvati, the wife of Shiva. She would be, I suppose, the equivalent of Hera, wife of Zeus. She is the Mother goddess of Hinduism, and the name, Uma, is very common in India. Ms. Uma Karuna Thurman got that name from her father, who was presumably an ordained buddhist monk, for a time. Certainly convenient for crosswordese.
Delightful Monday puzzle, many thanks, Craig. And Boomer, your commentary is always a delight. You always set off some musical tunes in my head, and I love your puns: CARTUNE was my favorite this morning.
ReplyDeletePuzzle was very doable with still a bit of crunch here and there. Never heard of PULSAR, for example. Nice to see THEME in a puzzle. 'Leaves in hot water' didn't fool me for a minute--I put in TEA instantly. AESOP shows up surprisingly often in puzzles, but HESSE not often. Anyway, lots of fun.
Have a good week coming up, everybody.
Panchatantra, 5 Tales, Wiki
ReplyDeleteGary, I looked in my email. Crickets! I sent one to you so you can double-check my address.
ReplyDeleteKathy
C.C., I cannot see the clip on my iPhone using Safari. It doesn’t appear at all. It does play on my iPad using Safari.
ReplyDeleteFLN, Inane H, thanks for the Bris explanation. Your personal training experience was so funny.
Also FLN, I thought political statements or personal attacks were verboten here. IMO, Big E’s Bill Maher descriptor is inappropriate.
I enjoyed the puzzle today. I agree with others regarding DERAT. I keep frozen edamame in my freezer at all times and cook it for lunch often. Great protein source.
Video plays on my iPad using Safari but is not visible on my iPhone using Safari.
ReplyDeleteVideo ok on PC using Chrome..
ReplyDeleteNot visible on latest iPhone update using Safari...
It is visible on my IPad safari, but it has not been updated since IOS13.6
Wow! Just discovered my safari Iphone is version ios13.3.1. (I hate updates!)
ReplyDeleteWill advise after I update to ios13.7
But I gotta find a place to plug in...
Boy, I just raced through this one (and enjoyed the run). Very enjoyable and very quick. Thanks, Craig, for the diversion. And Boomer, when have I ever NOT liked your essays? (Hint: the answer is “never”.)
ReplyDeleteI use Safari on both my iPad and my iPhone. The video shows up and plays just fine on the iPad; on the iPhone, not so much. (Like not at all.)
I knew when I saw DERAT that I would be seeing a lot of grumpy grumbling when I got to the blog. Boy was I right! (Oh... of course I was a grumpy grumbler too.)
I like the way the TOE of TIC TAC TOE forms a right angle with EYE.
Does anyone but us old folks still know about SADIE Hawkins Day?
My dad used to make it but I must not have paid close enough attention because for years I thought it was PrESTO he was making.
Gotta run. Mask up. Stay well.
ReplyDeleteOn my iPad Air 2 with the latest iOS update using Safari I can see and play the video fine...but did you have to use wrestling? Haha.
On my iPhone 8 with the latest iOS update using Safari the video isn’t there at all.
Couldn’t get the Daisy Mae link either, but it said Dynamic Link Not Found.
Um, not to nitpick but wasn’t it just Saturday that Rudolph was found to be the “Red NoseD” reindeer?
DERAT just doesn’t look right.
Anon...Rudolph almost got a DUI Christmas Eve, cops were suspicious of his red NOSE or why he was red NOSED
ReplyDeleteA fun, quick puzzle. You know, Monday. It look longer than the under four minutes that Anonymous reported above - that's is fast. I had the puzzled completed before "groking" the theme.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a lot of time this past week to focus on posting here. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can say that I have been spending time getting up to speed on other aspects of the blog-o-verse. I have learned quite a bit with "miles to go before bwfore I post" Apologies, Mr. Frost.
Letting The Cat Out Of The Bag
Good afternoon, all. Thanks for the xword, Craig and thanks for the 'splainin', Boomer. Got the theme and thought I had the fill correct, but...as Ray O said...FIW. I looked at the 50D and 58A and knew it wasn't right. A, E, I and never got to O and left the I in. Wrong! After Boomer clued me in, I looked and seen that I read the clue wrong. Oh well. Good week last week in xword terms and did a credible job with Sunday's offering. Thanks WC for this weeks preview. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSans,. Enjoyez Lundi et Mardi. Apres ca le deluge.
ReplyDeleteOr in other words, the French are coming, the French are coming. (But not until Jeudi)
Then again who am I to say. Difficulty is in the pen of the inker
WC
Very curious,
ReplyDeleteJust finished updating both iPad and iPhone
To ios13.7, and via Safari,
The wrestling video shows on the iPad
But It still does not show on the iPhone???
A very curious puzzle indeed...
WC - - Thou hast omitted THY diacritics: Après ça le déluge.
ReplyDelete__________________________________________
Thanks to IM and PK for your kind comments.
Thanks, Craig and Boomer!
ReplyDeleteFIR and saw the theme. As usual, I took my time this morning and worked on the puzzle while doing my blood pressure routine. Took me about a half hour to finish up both at the same time. Four unknowns: EVANS, REA, EPAMAME and HESSE. Perps got them.
I’d have been here much sooner, but I had to go in today and help our mechanic get some engine parts out of an old engine storage unit. Mind you, I know nothing about anything mechanical; I’m just the, “Hold this here” and “Take up some slack there” and “When I lower the HEAVY top back onto the storage unit with the forklift, make sure THAT one-inch stud poking up THERE goes into THAT hole THERE” guy. Anyway, we (well, HE) got it done!
Learning moment: I didn’t realize that a tidal wave and a tsunami are not really synonymous.
Boomer, we always used the words spikes and cleats interchangeably. Then there was Clete, who had the PERFECT baseball name, (and older brothers Cloyd and Ken) Boyer. Didn’t realize until I just looked it up that there were seven boys and seven girls in that family!
Clete Boyer
C.C., I was able to view the video on my desktop PC running an old version of Windows (don’t ask – don’t tell) and Firefox. However, I couldn’t even see the link on my AT&T Samsung Android phone, or on my Sprint Android tablet. Go figure.
Keep your heads down, Louisiana and Mississippi!
The video is fine on my Fire tablet. See nothing on my Android phone with Samsung internet.
ReplyDeleteI liked this puzzle but was confused about the theme. Having the reveal AUTO MATES and the answer GRAPH PAPER I thought it worked like AUTO GRAPH and PAPER MATES (ball-point pens), but the other theme answers didn't work like that. APP MATES? Nah.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, WEES, including the nose wrinkle at DERAT. On the other hand, if one can de-louse ...
An interesting learning moment about Uma Thurman. Also about the town called EMBARRASS.
Of the three cars, I would pick the Corvette.
Good wishes to you all.
Fun puzzle, Craig. Thanks. Not much to add. DERAT filled in with perps so I have no nit.
ReplyDeleteBoomer, thanks for the chuckles.
C Eh, I also have the newest Louise Penny on order. Should be a good one.
C.C., I can see the video on my iPhone with Safari, and also on my iPad with Safari. My iPhone went kaplooey just in time to feel isolated by the impending Hurricane Sally. Great timing.
Yesterday was a better day. SAINT WON, Falcons lost, and Brady looked awful. What more can a Who Dat ask? And now we get a hurricane. Oh well.
Spitz, looking spiffy, whenever it was taken.
ReplyDeleteYR: thanks for the info on EDAMAME. D-O: Groan! No one in our area raised soybeans because they need more rainfall than we normally got. When we were able to put in irrigation systems, our family got brave and planted them. The time I cooked them, my husband brought some dried soybeans straight from the combine. The rest were stored in bins or hauled to the only dealer who bought and sold them an hours' drive away. Everybody in the family complained that they caused gastric distress. So they were strictly a money crop for us.
ReplyDeleteSwampCat - Thanks. It was taken in May, 1961, soon after Alan Shepard's 1st sub-orbital flight which we participated in. (He flew 80 miles over our heads.)
ReplyDeleteFWIW - re: My IMac desktop renders the video fine including expanding to full screen. Safari Version 13.1.2 (13609.3.5.1.5)
Thanks, Spitzboov, for that information. How exciting!
ReplyDeletePuzzling thoughts:
ReplyDeleteC.C. —> iPhone 7+, Safari, no video ... this is weird. Swamp Cat has an iPhone and Safari and CAN see it. Weird.
Thanks Boomer and Craig.
Chairman, my iPhone is an ancient iPhone 6, one of the first. Not sure that would make a difference.
ReplyDeleteHusker Gary @ 10:00. I live about 90 miles from Alcatraz and have never taken the tour! I have been to the Winchester Mystery House though.
ReplyDeleteHello everybody from smoky Northern California. It's like looking out through a dirty fish bowl. Fast puzzle today. I enjoy all the comments.
Take care!
Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world.
ReplyDeleteHello, Garlic Girl.
Hi All!
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig for the fun puzzle. Like Jayce, I was looking to use MATE in the THEME //PAPER MATE
Entertaining expo, Boomer. CARTUNE, hehe
WOs: AMPed, eRDU, LaT-UP -> LET UP.
ESPs: EVANS, REA, HESSE, EDAMAME's vowels.
Fav: Leaves in hot water is a cute clue for TEA
I'll pile on DERAT.
I too noticed all the UPs.
C.C. iPhone 13.6 there's not even a picture to click the WWE link. Old iPad 2 on iOS 9.3.5 can play it fine.
I looked at the HTML code and it might be the that's in the paragraph tag that's causing the issue. If there's just a space, maybe Safari skips the paragraph all together?
DREAM CAR: New Alfa Spider by my '86 Alfa Spider AUTO MATE (Maybe when kids are done w/ college(?)).
//TTP - That Toyota looks pretty nice and won't need fixed as oft :-)
AUTO GRAPH? Got to meet Mario Andretti at BlackHat. When I told him I have two Alfas, he smiled big.
PK - YR beat me to the EDAMAE recipe. Great snack!
//Twice-eaten. LOL D-O!
Nice to read you GarlicGal!
Cheers, -T
Garlic Gal, glad to know your are okay. Best wishes for continued okayness!
