Not too tough, although there was one place
where I had to make a WAG. That was with
“Shiv” and its cross. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.
FIR, so I’m happy.

I didn’t get the cross of Bopit (never heard of it) and pips. Pips are seeds? If you live in the UK maybe. How about dots on dice. Otherwise a breeze.

Good morning!

I agree with tperki on PIPS. Needed the comma that Hahtoolah added to solve the mystery of "Love, Me." My only Wite-Out application was correcting I'M NOT to AM NOT. Thanx, Victoria and Hahtoolah. (Loved the mousse cartoon.)

PURINA: I always carry baked PURINA dog treats on my M-o-W routes. The dogs expect, nay demand, 'em.

EMBARGO: The colonists protested by spelling it backwards: O-GRAB-ME

Today I'm off for the dreaded annual physical. Gotta do it if I want my meds renewed.

Hahtoolah’s cartoons are the best. They make me look forward to the Tuesday puzzle. Keep em coming and thanks for the laughs.

FIR, but syraz->SYRAH. DNK SHIV, Logan Roy or Succession, NICE to Each Other, and also guessed at PIPS x BOPIT. (I thought that BOPIT could be a cutesy name for a relationship between BO Derek and Brad PITt, taking the place of the equally-nauseating "Brangelina."

Thanks to Victoria for the fun, early week puzzle. And thanks to Ha2la for all the chuckles. My favorite was the selfie in the Garden of EDEN, featuring the mugging serpent.

The puzzle was fine, Thanks Victoria, but as already noted the highlight of the day are the cartoons. It is amazing what Susan finds that are both appropriate and funny. Happy day all

Thank you, Victoria and Hahtoolah

Divided WORDS today, with a perfect reveal to PARTING WORDS.

Dave's words of denial "I 16A, 19A !"

DW brought home a prickly pear pad that her SIL gave her. She stuck it in the bare ground near a hedgerow. It's now survived its second winter in Northern Illinois. Last summer it spread with a few more pads. I doubt that it will ever get as large as the one Hahtoolah uploaded, but I'll get a picture of it later this year.

Vaya Con Dios!

FIR. Oh groan, circles!
Like SubG, I too had to take a WAG at the crossing of Shiv and syrah. Even spellcheck doesn't like it!
But the rest of the puzzle was definitely Tuesday easy.
So overall, despite what I consider a natick, this was an enjoyable puzzle.

Smooth puzzle. Just a few head scratchers, as already pointed out. Crossing BOP IT(?) and PIPS and LOVE ME which makes more senses as LOVE, ME.

This weekend working on the WSJ acrostic I found out that LOREAL is the world’s largest beauty company.

The theme was obvious from the beginning and the reveal apt.

Thank you Hahtoolah for the fun review.

NENE REFERENCE!!! AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE

A bit crunchy so early in the week. The fairly easy theme and ⚪️’s helped. Never heard of WORKHUSBANDS

Inkovers: hurt/HARM, Loriel/LOREAL

SHIV (Siobhan, “Shi-VAWN” Google says it’s Irish for Joan). I liked Roman the best of the “Succession” sibs

A QUARRY become a swimming spot, yuck!

Gala or BASH? Only the perps know. NEAR was a bit closer than FAR.

Thought the NENE had gone crossword extinct

Is EMBARGO the next step after tariffs? Dont give anyone any ideas. 😉

Where Gondolas are parked, the ____ of Venice …. MOOR
”Along came a spider and sat down be ——- “…. CIDER
Have you ever ____ Japan? …. BENTO

Thanks for the chuckles H2LH!

Musings
-Yeah, I thought of another 4-letter piece of protective athletic gear
-Logan Roy's daughter on "Succession," familiarly: SHIV – Clue and fill are very high on my obscure scale. Prison weapon?
-That use of PIPS was learning for me
-Detecting any sense of flavor in a restaurant BLT is hopeless. Home grown tomatoes on the other hand…
-You’d have to have some miles on your tires to think of the OLD PRO pitching Falstaff beer

Good Morning:

I saw the separated W O R D S early on but waited for the reveal to get the theme. I saw Succession but couldn’t remember Shiv’s name. Actually, those Succession characters weren’t exactly memorable for much more than their hostility toward each other. I went astray at Gala/Bash and Aura/Halo, otherwise smooth sailing.

Thank you, Victoria, and thanks, Hahtoolah, for the usual fun, facts, and chuckles. Favorite comic was the “Pop” music balloons. Runner-up was the Cat and Mousse!

Have a great day.

My BLTs are a work of art and careful craftsmanship. It would be blasphemy to refer to it as a simple sammie !!

I have always thought Siobhan to be a pretty cool name but I have never watched an episode of Succession so I relied in perps to fill Shiv.

The cartoons in the recap were funny. My fav was driving out the evil spirits.

Took 4:02 today for me to bid adieu.

"Succession" is an excellent show.

Oh joy, circles!

Had to drop BE nice for BE COOL. Nonetheless, NICE ended up crossing WORK HUSBAND.

Not too bad a puzzle today, except for a few clues like SHIV and LoveME.(Sounds like something a stalker or egomaniac would sign) I would go with "loveYOU". At least this seemed more like a crossWORDpuzzle than the string of A&E trivial pursuit games we've been flooded with recently. Not all of us old fogies are into the hundreds of streaming shows, or pay-per-views.(or In TV in general) back in the old three network days, people knew most of the actual Stars and shows were discussed around work. Now they ask for names and characters from one obscure show, who certainly cannot be STARS in the old sense like Monroe, Gable, Wayne, May West, etc. End rant! On the brighter side, Ha2la. Really hit the spot today, as usual! Great 'toons!

Lucina said...

Hola! I've never heard the expression "WORK HUSBANDS", but it makes sense.
And though I've never used CeraVe, L'OREAL is what I most use.
On one of our road trips, my sisters and I visited TAOS, and we were impressed with the many jewelry shops there. Of course, we had to buy some.
Lots of food and drink in this puzzle: ACAI, BBQ, PEAR, POP, CIDER, OREO, BLTS, RANGOON crab and BENTO box to pack them and ICE for our drinks.
Even SYRAH fits the category and some PURINA for our pets.
My PARTING WORDS are, have a great day everyone!

Thanks to Victoria and Hahtoolah for the entertainment!

On the wavelength of this CW, FIR in 8, a very good Tuesday time for me. WEES about PIPS/BOPIT. I got the theme with the very first theme clue, which was a big help. The theme seemed obvious, even on the first theme clue.

13 names, only 3 DNKs, which also helped me speed along and be able to use pen-on-paper, not go on-line for red letter help.

Only W/O = AURA/HALO.

Thanx VFG, very nice, fun Tuesday level CW. There's POP and PIPS, a BENTO box and crab RANGOON. Nice.

Thanx too to Hahtoolah, you never disappoint with your write-ups, and the great cartoons. I especially liked the "5 Cats Limit" cartoon. The cartoon about the stars makes me think of how I've always found seeing animals outlined in the stars overly imaginative.

The rock quarry: growing up in Milwaukee few people had pools. We went to the city-run community pool, but is was frequently closed for polio scares. Then we moved to the 'burbs, namely Franklin WI. No community pool. Only place we could find to swim was the rock quarry, but our parents did not like that, saying it was too dangerous. Actually, they were right. Very sharp edged rocks were hidden in the murky water, resulting in many cut feet.

29A had me thinking of the chocolate lab...which cannot eat chocolate. And also had me wondering how much gold golden retrievers actually retrieve.

I'm STILL smiling over my discovery of the rear windscreen washer yesterday, after owning the car for almost nine years. Geez.

I have fond memories of a big family reunion years ago when my lovely Aunt Joyce brought out a BOP-IT that we passed quickly around the room trying to follow its commands. Lots of laughs whenever someone got flustered and missed. It is a delightful party game when everyone is in the right mood!! Lots of laughs!

Thanks to Victoria for the easy, breezy, and cheerful puzzle, and to Hahtoolah for the fun recap, packed with cute cartoons.

Reminds me of the old days when I was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Not a whole lot of games were televised, because it was the days before satellites were used for TV. Most fans followed the team on AM radio. Retired HOF pitcher Joe Nuxhall was the color announcer for the Reds and also did the post-game writeup. His signature signoff was "this is the OLD lefthander, rounding third and heading for home."

Delightful puzzle, many thanks, Victoria. And, Hahtoolah, your commentary and pictures are always a pleasure and thanks for today's offering too.

Well, BBQS require HEAT to warm them up along with PADS of food, especially if you have HUSBANDS going off to WORK. There's not much interesting food in this puzzle unless the BLTS are bacon, lettuce, and tomato entries. Oh, and apparently that Crab RANGOON is a fried appetizer filled with cream cheese. If that's so, then I'd say that if we can get that along with some CIDER, we might end up having a pretty good lunch. But we'd still need a plate of OREO cookies to make that really work out. And, finally, we'll also need some tickets to be able to attend that delightful OPRY.

We're finally getting some nice sunshine, so I'll wish you all a lovely day too.
