Is there a remote chance something on this puzzle tripped you up? If so, please tell us in the comments... of not, come anyway! Maybe by then my YouTube share button problems will be fixed, and we can commiserate on sticky remote buttons that don't work. (Isopropyl Alcohol is a solution!) and there is a way to use tiny bits of aluminum foil for when they really go kerblooey...
CE:D out.

Another pretty easy
puzzle, although it took me a minute to remember the “m” of “Moen.”
Anyway, FIR, so I’m happy.
I think this may be the easiest puzzle uf the year. We did get a reminder of one of our past globetrotting commuters the DOHA DOC. Like CED I am curious if fellow readers come up with interesting links. I know somehow Hatoolah would have added many cartoons. Enjoy the last few days of more sunlight as summer marks the beginning of shorter days. It also marks Father's day and the traditional US open golf tournament. Thank you Daniel and Dave
Good morning!
This PBS science fan only needed Wite-Out to correct the E to S in NOVAS. AID, RIP, ETA, and SSN slipped past unnoticed on my slide through the grid. Very smooth Tuesday, Daniel. Thanx for the expo CE:D.
We don't need it, but we're expecting a few more inches of rain today for the 5:30 anchors to put on the news.
FIR. Pretty easy puzzle typical of a Tuesday. I didn't know the couch gag, still don't and I've watched the show, and Chakra was not in my wheelhouse. But the perps helped.
I got the theme after the first two long answers. Interesting that there was no reveal of any kind, but it was obvious.
Overall a very enjoyable puzzle.
KS, you must be still asleep. The reveal is at 55 Across, Remote Start. 🤣
I needed the reveal to see the theme. Neat. A REMOTE START would be nice to have. Bedsides the puzzle theme, lots of TV trivia like DVD SET, LED TV, COUCH GAG, and CHEF as clued.
Only one name, KAT, and easy to guess. However I got tripped up two places. I left DO__A crossing C__I and MOE__ crossing __LE unfinished. I could have guessed, but didn’t.
Otherwise a really easy and smooth puzzle.
Thank you CED for another effort to enlighten us.
Took 4:03 today to stop on a dime.
I knew the Actress of the Day (Kat) - she has a speaking style designed for laugh tracks.
here are the 30 best Simpson couch gags. My YouTube share and save buttons still do not work on my iPad. (They work on my PC) but I have found work arounds. What's bothering me is I don't hear anyone else complaining? It makes me wonder if it is MY IPAD that is broken? Has anyone else out there come across this problem?
Thank you, Daniel and David.
The first clue I read was 27A "What a deeply regretful person may wish to do:" so I promptly entered HIDE UNDER A ROCK.
Buoyed by my confidence, I read 44A next. "Stop mid-story to add suspense, say:" and entered PAUSE FOR EFFECT.
No immediate entries for 19A and 55A so I started filling in the middle of the puzzle and saw that hide under a rock had to be wrong. Worked out REWIND THE CLOCK, and then I was off to the races.
I guess hide under a rock might be better if the clue used embarrassed rather than regretful.
Desper-otto, as my sister would say, I see you are having some weather there. I saw videos of Houston on the national news last night, and they also mentioned both Austin and showed scenes in downtown Waco of a car floating down Interstate 35. I read online and it didn't look like the Temple area got it nearly as bad, but they are also under the advisories.
Sounds like user error.
Search your symptoms on reddit.
WEES: Very fast and easy solve. 9 minutes to FIR, pen-on-paper. By my count 9 names, only DNK 1! Thanx DH for the spectacularly low name count. (I count place NAMES as well as people NAMES as NAMES).
I enjoyed the fast solve, saw the theme, and didn't really need the reveal (remote start) to see it. Well done, DH, thanx for this terrific CW.
Thanx too to CE:D for his equally sparkling write-up.
It's nice to once again be able to print the CW from my morning e-newspaper, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. For quite some time, couldn't do it. Now I try pen-on-paper first, and only revert to the online CW if I struggle.
Good Morning:
This was an easy, peasy Tuesday offering with just one or two tricky entries, i.e., Chakra and Couch Gag, both solved by perps. The reveal was a surprise, though, which is my preference. Overall, a typical Tuesday and an enjoyable one at that.
Thanks, Daniel, and thanks, CED, for giving us your take on the puzzle and for subbing, once again. You’re a good man, Charlie Brown!
FIR, but ack->EEK, novae for NOVAS (hi Dave,) and chokra->CHAKRA (UNTIE!)
Does one really REWIND the clock to recover time? When we would rewind a clock (which we had to do frequently,) we would tension the spring to keep the clock working. To go back to an earlier time, we would REset (or turn back) the clock.
Thanks to Danie for the fun, easy Tuesday puzzle, and to CED for another great review. And you are right - isopropyl alcohol is a solution - C₃H₈O.
Not bedsides, besides.
Hats off to CE:D for filling in yet again, even as he recovers from a nasty illness. Happily, Daniel Hrynick gave CE:D and the rest of us something fun to work with. Thanks for that! And thanks to Jinx at 9:05 AM for answering the question at the back of my mind about isopropyl alcohol.
User error? Well, if it's me, then I know I can't fix it...
I did take your advice and looked at Reddit. Would you believe I have never used this resource before? I think it had to do with years ago, it was either Ad infested, or they required you to sign up. ( to quote Groucho Marx, I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member...)
But they did confirm I am not the only one! Even had some suggestions.
Some people found that turning the iPad from landscape to portrait makes their buttons work! (Doesn't work for me.) others suggested deleting and reinstalling the app, but it seems the problem often comes back... I did move it to cloud and reinstalled it, no luck. I wonder if I should try a complete delete and reinstall. But I do have work arounds like viewing from history to access share and save options, it's just a puzzle that desperately needs an aha moment...
As often happens some crunch as I moved south. The theme actually took me a bit to parse: “buttons” on a DVD set (usually referred to as a “player”). With so much available on streaming our DVD player is going the way of our VHS “set” … collecting dust
Inkover: Doah/DOHA
There should be a sign on the Tilt-A-Whirl “you must be under (age) to ride” (else expect severe
Vertigo). I had to abandon it, one of my favorite rides at about (50)
Annette? Nope that’s “Bening”
Only “Wrinkly dog” I know of is a Shar Pei. Never seen WHOOSH in a puzzle before, sheesh!
“Mined-over matter” ORE … clever for a commonly used answer often paired with a mundane clue 😃
How a PUG gets attention … PAUSE FOR EFFECT
Shakespeare in the park … PLAY OUTSIDE
Aren’t you going to Madrid? … NOVAS
REWIND THE CLOCK…
Our 35 yo Grandfather clock plays tunes appropriately but only strikes once no matter the hour. The two available clock repair companies out going message states they no longer service GF clocks and don’t ask them for a recommendation. Any suggestions?
another very easy peasy, but a sign of my video game-poisoned mind that I tried to put "cleric" instead of HEALER lol
Sounds like a user issue. Something in your environment.
Try taking it outside. Or trying it underwater. If it doesn't work after that, buy a PC laptop.
Search YouTube help. Not in the YouTube app. However, I did find this YouTube video of a guying fixing his YouTube share problem:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JQNX7g9Q8RI
If that didn't help, go to YouTube help and search the Help Center and the Community tabs.
Search using variations of:
Share and save buttons don't appear when watching videos on ipad

Hola! i totally agree that this was an easy Tuesday solve. Thank you, Daniel Hrynick and thank you, C:EDave.
Never having seen The Simpsons, everything I know about them is from crosswords. And I know nothing about sports either, so I'm grateful for good perps.
This was a good mental workout and now I have to get ready to go to a funeral. It's for someone from church, not anyone I'm close to.
Have a beautiful, peaceful day, everyone!
We have a 40 year old grandfather clock, that I have fixed many times. It requires 3 things: blood, sweat, and tears...
Curious that it only chimes once, very unusual. Normally the whole mechanism goes. Does your clock have multiple chime versions? If so, try moving and cleaning (no oil, attracts dust...) the chime version mechanism. It may be just stuck.
My problem was the chime would not stop. Just kept chiming forever. Turned out a tiny pin had sheared off. I replaced it with a cut off sewing pin that I soldered in place, worked great for years and then failed again. That time i dropped one of the set screws that hold the gear timing in the correct position.
(Setting the gear timing correctly is beyond just blood sweat and tears, praying worked for me...) that's when I found a nearby repair company. They told me while the cabinets are made here, all the mechanisms come from a company in Germany. You just can't get the parts anymore. When I told him all my trials he said wait here, went thin the back, and came back with not only the set screws that hold, but the entire cog assembly. I offered to pay him, but he said I had suffered enough...
Fun, easy puzzle. Thanks CED for the review. I liked “ETA on This too shall pass “! 🤣 clever theme and reveal. Thanks Daniel and CED!
Interesting and pleasant Tuesday puzzle, many thanks, Daniel. And your commentary and pictures were helpful, as always, so thank you for those too, Dave.
Well, I hope the THIN person that started his DAY on this puzzle was not going to go gambling in RENO, but will stay home and try to figure out how to have a healthy day. It would actually be a good idea if he started by having the CHEF get him some OAT meal for breakfast, followed by some FRESH OKRA and ONIONS for lunch, and if he DIETED with a healthy supper in the evening. If the weather is good, he could PLAY OUTSIDE during the day, and then enjoy an evening by sitting near the warm FIREWOOD while using his DVD SET to watch some delightful movies. Drinking some warm ALES while listening to his puppy making some ARF sounds, might add even more to this very pleasant time. Let's keep all this in mind for creating a very pleasant morning and evening for ourselves in our homes on this day as well.
Have a wonderful day, everybody.
