A quibble about the theme. 3 themers are idioms, the other two are fairly direct synonyms. I would have preferred if thy were all idioms. But they did all fit the echoed clue.

OTOH, I did not know ILANA Glazer, and except for the beginning P, I was initially stumped at TAFKAP. Thank you perps.

"A pocket 7-10 is the worst." I agree. A change of emotions in a matter of seconds, as you watch the ball track into the pocket, DELIGHTED that you know you are going to get a strike, and then, next thing you know, the 7-10 are standing there unscathed. Then you hear from the background, "Get one for the team !"
D-O, welcome to my world. My internal clock is way out of whack.
Drove through Houghton and crossed the bridge into Hancock on our way to vacay at the Mountain Lodge out on the peninsula. Saw all the sights. Old timey pictures of the roadways cleared of winter snow were almost unbelievable. Can you imagine driving down miles of roadway with 25 to 30 foot (and more) vertical walls of snow on either side ? The raw coast with vistas of Lake Superior was breathtaking.

I was delighted to finish in 7:23. I didn't know Ilana Glazer, but mistook her anyway for comedian Nikki Glaser, which looked very wrong next to Nemoy, and then, Nimoy. So, had do some correcting in the bottom-left corner. I also didn't know anything about Dr. Hawking's child, or the Prince abbreviation.
Boomer, I don't know why you won't admit to knowing (57D) Donna Karan of New York vs Yves Saint Laurent, you are a far superior crossword solver than I. And, fashion wise (21A). where I live crew socks are a must. The fleas gnats mosquitoes etc in our grass cause misery to one's ankles. Those who follow fashion trends suffer down here in anklets and no show socks. Thanks for an entertaining blog.

AREAS calculations. Thinking that we haven't had 'polar planimeter' in quite awhile. Gread for calculating areas with irregularly shaped boundaries.
Forked over - - Always like the idiom. Reminded me of turning over and fluffing up wet hay in windrows. Used a tedder in the old days but found that nipping the windrow with a side-delivery rake worked well, too.

Longest ride ever was from Basic in El Paso to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) in San Antonio. I don't remember most of it 'cuz someone bribed the bus driver to pull into a truck stop so we could load-up a few cases of beer.
After 8 weeks of no drinking, it didn't take much to knock us 18 year-old kids out.

Boomer, (since you mentioned it ...) sincere best wishes and prayers for your continued recovery and a better prognosis. As one who's been there, I can somewhat emphathize, if not truly understand, what you must be going through. I have a couple of friends who are urologists and their loose talk ( despite HiPAA rules, and what not ) over dinner parties, has given me a fairly good idea of what is involved. I pray that all this super interventional care will eventually bear fruit.
A couple of bloggers mentioned '211', in their congrats, and I was wondering what this code meant ? I googled extensively, and wondered why you might need a code 211 ( family and social services ...) .... and finally I realized that the 211 referred to your bowling score. To those of us, not in the sport, the significance of certain numbers has very little meaning.

Also DELIGHTED to see SHATNER and NIMOY today! I did get to see SHATNER in person, but not NIMOY. Somewhere I have notes of what SHATNER had to say. It seems I never published them. He comes across to some as arrogant, but he is an amazing person and earned it.

I had a tough time with IRL and TAFKAP .... these acronyms are sprouting faster than mushrooms. Wasn't it Archimedes who once said, ' If you give me a place of a three or four letter combination, I will move an acronym out of it ....'

... Ray-O and others may correct me, but, its my understanding, that the body often regularly produces some of its own alcohol, from simple carbohydrates and sugars, ...the auto-brewery syndrome.
Reminds me of the story, where a frustrated pediatrician was examining a young cranky child, with no apparent medical problems.
As a last resort, he asked the mother, what was the last thing she fed the child at night, before sending him to sleep...
The mother said, she gives him a glass of cold milk ...
The pediatrician says, '..Thats the problem. He drinks the milk, which turns into buttermilk, then to carbohydrates and sugars, and that converts into alcohol ... and sure enough, he wakes up with a hangover ...'

I was TICKLED PINK and all of the rest of the themers for being able to do today's puzzle. Welcome aboard Stephanie. And Boomer gave us a nice 7 - 10 split pick-up this week. Bravo.
I had enough perps to finish filling in PRINCE as a SWAG, even though I didn't realize what TAFKAP meant until Boomer 'splained it. Similar experience with PANAMA hat.
Otherwise the puzzle filled in relatively easily.
Heavy Thunderstorms rolling through Central Pennsylvania right now. Fun to watch, but I'm glad I'm not out driving in them.

Thanks to all who extended their good wishes on my upcoming colonoscopy. All seems well, and the procedure is scheduled for November. I even picked up my snot-flavored drink at the hospital pharmacy. BTW, the scheduler had a plaque on her desk declaring "I hate being bipolar. It's AWSOME!"

Yes, I guess I did out myself but just recently I learned that there is no PRIVACY left. A few days ago I wanted an address for someone and on a whim decided to look it up on the internet. Whoa! I not only found the address, but occupation, yearly income and much more than I wanted to know! So I'm sure anyone can locate anything they want to know about me.
I am home, now, from the road trip and am roughly fifty percent caught up with the pile of work that awaited me. We drove 1,800 miles over six days with 5/6 of that done on just two of those days. The biggest problem was the smoke/air quality in south central Oregon. Fortunately, it rained the first night that we were there and things cleared up quite a bit.
It was great to meet Picard and Merlie in person yesterday and I thank Picard for posting the photos.

Spitz, we did. It was very nice to share some real life moments to augment the "virtual" friendships initiated here. If this COVID thing abates sufficiently it would be nice to have a national gathering.

My ex-wife was from Joliet, and her father was a HUGE Bears fan. I'm talking season tickets at Soldier Field in the dead of winter. When she was young, they usually did a week of summer vacation in Grand Marais, on the UP of Michigan. One year, they even let me come along (stories about THAT trip too). We were all crammed into my Toyota Corolla, and on the way back to Joliet, I detoured off the highway in Green Bay.
“WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!?!?!?!?” Well, words to that effect….
“You in the back seat --- PIPE DOWN!!!” (That was before my becoming a temporary - now permanent resident of Texas. Now, it would have been "ALL YALL in the back seat...."
Bill (FIL – riding shotgun, of course) KNEW where I was going, and he didn’t say a word. We simply pulled into the parking lot at Lambeau Field and just sat there for about five minutes. Bill was very pleased! Sometimes, we have to meet the enemy on his home turf!
