Good morning!
Just like last year, d-o overslept on DST day. Haven't used an alarm in at least 20 years, but somehow almost always wake up on schedule. Was cruising along, and then came to a screeching stop. The unknowns TOFUTTI atop IMAPC atop MII were just too much. That area never filled. Further down, I hung onto ARCH (Foot part) way too long, making it hard to see FIND atop ENOS atop BOSCH. As a result, d-o will be doing his celebrating in the abasement. Thanx, Robin and C.C.
FIR, but erased entry for DOORS, bug for SEW, rbi for AVG, and arCH for INCH. Took forever to accept ENOS; kinda gave up and went to the reveal. Huh, it's right.
ALEE was a gimmie, but I usually hear "to weather" instead of aweather.
There was only one SULU, George Takei. Just as there was only one James Bond and one Superman.
NASA high tech? Aren't they using the old Challenger booster engines to get us back to the moon? Maybe they should contract to that guy who bought Twitter.

Fun theme! I thought it would just be about adding random Es, when I got the POINTE themer. I think I've seen TOFUTTI and IMAPC in a crossword before, but MII I did know (puns! It comes from "Wii" - the console which probably shouldn't be in the clue - and "me", because it's customizable). Then Nintendo decided to bring Miis to the 3DS and still keep the name "Mii" - so the pun was just gone.
FIR, but had to change Irani to Omani early on. The tofutti and mii section had me flummoxed for a while until the perps set me straight. It's been a while since I heard the phrase "I'm a PC". Very clever theme, and enjoyable Sunday puzzle.
Finished this one in 15 minutes even today.
For someone who isn't a big fan of themes (and much less of circles), I really enjoyed this theme.
Keeping my streak alive, I did not know today's actresses (Enos & Ruth). "Imapc" took a long time to parse.

Hello puzzlemates! I had no idea that TOFUTTI would be so difficult. My kids are veg*ns, so I know all about the tofu- foods, like TOFURKEY/TOFURKY. I had a feeling that MII might be tricky, which is why I included the Wii in the clue.
The theme was inspired by a meme I saw in a Facebook group called The Punitentiary. It was a picture of Gregorian monks with the caption, "I always wanted to be a Gregorian monk, but I never got the chants." Then someone commented, "I always wanted to be a doctor, but I never had the patients." That Facebook group literally wrote some of the entries in the puzzle. "I always wanted to be rich, but I never had the cents" did not make the cut.
Fun fact! Three actors have played Hikaru Sulu in the "Star Trek" universe: George Takei, John Cho and Grant Imahara. Happy solving! :D

When a Sunday puzzle has the right ingredients, it’s a joy to solve and today’s has it all: a fun theme, some clever cluing, strong, in-the-language themers, minimal unknown or obscure fill, just-right difficulty level and, impressively, only 16 three letter words. My three unknowns, Ruth, Tofutti, and Tosh, and my two w/os, Rita/Ruth and Scam/Spam/Sham are well below the average Sunday solving experience. I liked all the phrases but Never Got The Chants was my favorite.
Kudos, Robin, for a very enjoyable and satisfying solve; enjoyed reading your interview, as well, and thanks, CC, for the overview and insight of a pro. Hope you’re managing okay dealing with that amount of snow. It was nice to see Tom Pepper’s byline in yesterday’s other paper.

I finished watching the last three episodes of The Gilded Age last night. I really enjoyed it and am hoping there will be another season. Some of the scenes included Newport, Rhode Island which was where many of the wealthy families of that era summered at their “cottages”.

I don’t know what happened to me this morning but I was convinced we were supposed to set our clocks back so I set the few clocks I have then checked my IPhone and got a shock. In my not fully awake confusion, I decided Apple got the time wrong. I knew that was going to be all over the news. I was more than confused, I was delusional. I so dislike this time change.

Hi folks! I’m late today. Went to church early, like I usually do, because it’s one of the only two times a week I see my best friend at the church, Larry. As to the puzzle, I don’t have too much to say that other people haven’t already said. I found the theme clever, enjoyable and easy to suss. FIR, so I’m happy.
Jorts? We used to call them 'cut off jeans', from when you outgrew your pants and wore them in the summer. Never heard of Jorts or many other clues in the puzzle but it was easy to FIR.

I am guessing my LASCAUX post yesterday was too late to be seen.
Fairly straightforward puzzle today, I did get sidetracked during CC's write up at the soap molds however. I am fascinated by how an artist can carve such decorative details into wood, so I went down the YouTube rabbithole only to be disappointed. The only thing YouTube had was how to's done with a Dremel power tool, which left me wondering how CC's Grandma got her hands on power tools? I have saved several vids to watch later as there are all over an hour long.

Much more enjoyable for me than yesterday. (LOL, PK, can’t I use my Canadian disadvantage excuse anymore? - I got HMOS, ELON and IVIES today!)
I had a sea of white on my first pass Across, and I didn’t even try to fill the themers then. The Downs were more friendly, and provided enough perps to get things flowing. (I see Charlie Echo had the same experience.)
I was introduced to DOJA Cat Streets yesterday.
I’m not familiar with TOFUTTI, but we have had MII here previously.
At least it was SUP today, and not S’up!

Am I dating myself to say that I thought of Peyton Place before MELROSE. But the decade and number of squares were wrong.
I had Ones in my American till (a Canadian till would have Loonies), but TENS were needed to make change.
Ice TEA did not match the clue as well as SUN TEA.

Now that I slept some more, I feel much better and the coughing seems to have stopped. (Secret) Between you and me, I took a double dose of my great-grandson's cough medicine and it seems to have helped. I'm not coughing anymore. At least not at the moment. I do plan to buy some adult medicine.
Later this week I'll have to go and have blood drawn so if anything is going on the analysis should expose it.

DW & I had a date-night in and binged 4 episodes of season 2 of Young Wallander. [Trailer] It's a little slow compared to American TV, but pretty good if you're looking for something else to view.
I only noticed the time change when I saw the oven's time and again when DW & I got in the car to go to the park for our walk & breakfast. The time change won't bother me until I have to wake up for work on Tuesday :-)
JORTS? - The public swimming pool had on their Rules Sign "No Cutoffs." I guess the loose strings would clog the filters(?).

I spent most of today watching MLB spring training games, to see how the new rules would work out, and I can say, "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Bud Selig and Rob Manfred, for speeding up the game. I had almost completely quit watching MLB, because I was tired of yelling, "THROW THE @$#!&% BALL ALREADY!!" at the pitcher on TV. I would only wish for one more "Speed up the game" rule: the batter gets three foul balls, then the fourth one is a strike.

Well, as soon as I saw DENIM, I figured we were going to be dealing with clothing in this puzzle. Since we have both men and women--ESAU and RUTH and STEPH and ELSA and others--we'd have to look for both MEN's and women's outfits--for example, one that might fit a PRIORESS but also one that would look good on the BODY of a LAD. Well, that DRESS will sure look good on a lady, with a SASH to put around the WAIST, and maybe have the dresser SEW some ornaments on as well. We'd better not talk about men's clothes, but we might encourage them to shave their CHIN. But maybe that would be NO HELP at all. Well, lets just go to the DEN to get some treats to eat instead, maybe some soup to SUP, or some SUN TEA to SIP, followed by some dessert with a tasty CRUST and flavored with THYME. That's bound to LIFT all our spirits.

I love watching the Oscars and though I haven't seen all the movies, it inspires me to go to the movies. I remember Michelle Yeoh from long ago in the movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Surprisingly, some are on Netflix.

Started this slog with my morning coffee and after I put in a batch of wash (about 10 am ...which meant 9am to my old bones) and finished just after midnight. I did watch the Oscars with one eye (one of my former students voiced a character in a nominated full-length animated feature that didn't win). Lots of research needed here and tossed it several times ... only to dig in later to finish it off.
Perseverance won the day!!
