This one filled just as fast as I could write. It was "A LOT of fun." Thought the expression PEEL OFF had an A in it. Learning moment. ROSE was the only unknown proper name, but the perps were solid. Thanx Bruce and Boomer. (Good luck with that shoulder surgery today.)
SIDE -- Side by Side is one of many of Kay Starr's hits from the '50s on my music server.
LAPSED -- We let our Barnacle home delivery subscription lapse several years ago. At the time it was about $280/year. Now digital only is $30/month.
"Generous Bonuses" -- My awlpatch employer used to pay an annual bonus in mid-February. It usually amounted to 25-30% of the annual salary. There were always mass resignations the following day.

Our digital Atlanta newspaper is $3 a month more than our digital New York Times subscription costs but is still lots less than having a paper copy delivered. Since I can print out the puzzle, I don't mind getting the paper digitally.

This was an easy, breezy solve with a simple but thoughtful theme. I am lucky enough to say Thank You often to the many people who spoil me with kindness. My lone w/o was Spa/Tub. The unnecessary and annoying proper noun cluing continued today with Rose, Train, Donuts, Nite, Hell, and Are. I promise I will not mention this pet peeve again, per Thumper’s advice. 🙊

Although LPNS are required in all wards/ rooms, ... they're not the first med assts that come to mind in an ICU ... RNs, IPNPs, CRNAs and Hospitalists / Intensivists and PAs perhaps...
I didn't think that BOUNTIES was a synonym for BONUSES.
Long ago, I worked for a very profitable company that paid annual bonuses,.... but they were weighted also by years of service ( loyalty ! ) and also the bonuses were paid over a 5 year period ... so when I left, I also left a generous portion of my past years bonuses.
BTW, paying bounties to law enforcement officers, seems to me to be a conflict of interest, since that is their main, or ONLY job !! Bounties should be paid to laymen who are not ordinarily law enforcement personnel...
BTW, per the IRS regs, since 1979, was that bonuses declared but not actually paid ( i.e. accrued ) to employees,... not a part of the upper level management, ... can be deducted, as an ordinary and necessary expense, in the previous year's tax returns, on an accrual basis ... provided the bonuses are irrevocably paid or reserved within 75 days of the next fiscal year.
Finally, I never realized that Punzutawnt was the name of an actual town in Penn. until I passed it on my way, on the turnpike, to NJ and New York City. ;-) Probably, the groundhog is its only claim to fame.

On a philosophical level, are lunar eclipses more common than the solar ones ... althoug I presume, they may be less spectacular.

Our friends at the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit astronomy club set up telescopes at the shopping center by our house and had hundreds of customers. Yes, it is amazing how small the moon is. You can cover it with your pinky at arm's length. Quite a contrast with our intuition that it fills the sky.

My late brother was a singer who had the strange quirk of sometimes singing in his sleep. My sis-in-law would wake up & jab him in the ribs to get him to stop. Shortly before he died, he woke her singing "You Are My Sunshine". She was so touched by that, she just let him sing. It was "their song" from dating days.

My recovery is proceeding faster and faster. I took The Oaks' car service to my ortho today. The healed fracture line was so good it was hard to find on the X Ray. I am allowed to do anything I am comfortable with, so I am now walking anywhere in our building without a walker and even doing stairs. I drove to the bank today without a problem. If this week continues this pattern I will buy groceries on Friday and pick up Alan for the weekend. From 10 mph to 60 mph in three weeks! I still take Ibuprofen, but much less. Thanks for your love and prayers.

No, I didn’t do the eclipse. My tripod has a bum leg, and I didn’t want to take the chance. I got a full lunar eclipse many, many moons ago. I was going to go outside and take a look, but I got busy and forgot. All my photo buddies did well, though.

I did photograph the 2017 solar eclipse (in Franklin, KY). One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen! There’s another coming up in 2024, and I won’t have to go so far --- just west of Austin.
