I don’t have a problem with any of the themed answers except perhaps the one that is a take-off on “over-bake.” Does anyone actually say “over-bake”? I’ve heard of “overcook” but not “over-bake” and, in fact, autocorrect won’t even let me type it as one word! Other than that, I have no quarrel with this puzzle that seemed quite clever. FIR, so I’m happy.

Very clean grid. Highlights include ITSASNAP, MAKEAWISH, DEEPSIGH, ASCIIART (!). Great clue on that last one, but I already had ASCII in place so it didn't mislead me. Most of the puzzle fell quickly but the SW took some work, with several one-word clues, unknowns LEFAY SIMMS STILLME, and a clue on TIGERS that could've been anything for me due to my terrible sports knowledge.
I didn't manage to FIR. The cross of two unknowns- YOGINI & LEFAY- I just left blank. Nothing made sense, but somehow I managed to fill ILDIVO, ASCII ART, and ASAND completely by perps, having never heard of any of those five. I knew of ASCII from having to fool with our IBM system 50+ years ago but not of the ART.
25A had me wondering if I could spell EDIFY. REY was unknown and I couldn't think of Do It Yourself for DIY KIT and thought maybe it was a DYE KIT for "dyeing the kitten. DIY KITTEN was filled because REE didn't seem as good as REY.
No SNIVEL from me. I liked the puzzle and the theme. The ridiculous words? No.

I don't normally give up on a crossword, but today I did. I found this one to be a fun sponge. Sorry, Garrett. Thanx for the explanation of all the things I didn't know, C.C. (I think your neighbor is right. A dog or cat in your household could be a very positive addition. You might try fostering a pet from the local shelter, just to see how it works out.)
FIR, but surprised myself doing so. Lots of unknowns, too many too mention, and many proper names. Luckily the perps and a few WAG's saw me through. I found this to be a tad crunchy for a Sunday puzzle.

Although I FIW, I appreciate that an 18 year old didn’t bombard us with current stuff, known only/mainly by his age group. He gave us a nice variety of topics, so my errors had nothing to do with not being up to date enough. My biggest faux pas was caps/CUPS, then confidently put Anon/UPON, so I couldn’t see OPEC. Really dumb. I am a King Arthur enthusiast, so Morgan Le Fay was known to me, but not YOGINI.

Zhouqin I will be a curmudgeon and agree with you and disagree with your neighbors and friends here regarding pet ADOPTION. I consider a dog or cat to be a prison without walls. They keep people from getting out of the house and going to events and travelling, where they can meet new people. I have also written about the enormous negative environmental impacts they have.

I had heard of a YOGI but didn't know that YOGINI was the feminine form. I got to YOGI and then waited for perps for the last 2 letters. It sounds like a portmanteau for a frozen yogurt/ martini
Also waited for perps to know whether the Pixar fish was DORY or NEMO.
SNIVEL to me sounds like an onomatopoeia word.
SubG - we always had to tell my mom not to OVERBAKE the brownies or cookies so some didn't end up as hockey pucks.
This Midwestern gal first had BAO at college (yummers), our campus had some theme dorms or houses for different languages that you could take and the people in the house often had a 1-2 nights a week where you could either take out or sit down for a meal of that cuisine as a way to raise funds for house activities. One of them was at the Asian theme house where most of the menu items were Chinese or Japanese. Also first time I had eaten Crepes Suzette at LaMaison Francais. None of the pop-up restaurants survive on campus now - but some of the theme dorms/houses still do.
KPOP have some high energy music -my cardio dance instructor likes to use their music in her routines. The training for these groups for months to years sounds grueling and not the healthiest for young people (10 hours a day for 6 days a week generally)

C.C., I have to agree with Picard that pets are not a good idea for everyone, especially if you aren't used to having pets. We always had cats & dogs on the farm and still had some when my husband died. In the end they caused me more work and heartbreak when they died. When I moved to the city, I fed an outdoor cat left without a home by a neighbor who moved away. He kept the rodent population controlled in return, but died an awful death. I'm happier without a pet now.

My heart went out to you when I read 83 Down. You did such a wonderful job of taking care of Boomer. It sounds like you are suffering from Decision Overload. It's a real thing. I have heard that one should not make any major decisions for 18 months after losing a spouse. Adopting a pet is a major decision. There are pros and cons re pet adoption. I do not have one but a good friend who just lost his wife says their dog gets him up and out of the house when he would otherwise stay in. Plus she gives him a lot of love. Just sayin!

Whoever is in charge of the crew that creates the CENSORING algorithms should have learned by now that the appropriate way of discharging their hateful task is NOT to automatically remove postings that include certain words or phrases BUT to flag these items for REVIEW by a human brain.
And not just any mortal brain but one that can draw upon experience and intelligence to exercise their power judiciously.
I do not envy anyone such a "power," as there will always be a gap between an author's intention and readers' reception. There is no way one can account for others' intercommunication--not in a manner that can satisfy everyone.
Best to leave such operations to judges and "official" agencies (including mass media), as only they carry the kind of authority that backs up a message and, in effect, "sells" it as a "truth."
As for these blogs, what does it matter if somebody gets little upset? C'est la vie, eh?

Keith, I have to agree that simply having your posting deleted does nothing to inform you, or anybody, why it was deleted. So it is impossible for you not to inadvertently commit the same "crime" again, not knowing what the "crime" was in the first place. IMO it would be far better for a human moderator to point out what in your post was unacceptable so that you can learn not to use the same terminology again, or to disguise it as I did with the word Pr0$t!tute (in describing what Violetta's profession was in La Traviata).

Lots of white but it all got filled. I just bought new pens at the $ Store. When I'm at my bank or various other other businesses I usually lift a pen but I find those won't last an entire xword

KPOP: DW's friend was front for a band in the mid-90's called K-Pop. Nothing Korean about them.
DW's buddy, small as she was, had a hell of a voice. They put out one CD that was a little under-produced but still very good (yes, I have it).
They were just a college (Boomer Sooner!) band that broke up after everyone got their MSs & PhDs and moved on. I wish I could find a link to share their grungy music but the internet is littered with real KPop.

During one of my phases a few years ago I was an avid fan of Arthurian legends. I devoured Mary Stewart's novels and even stayed up one summer night reading an entire book by her. I just could not put it down!
The last one I read (I think) was The mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Lately I've been thinking of rereading some of the many books I have and that would be a good one to start with.

Puzzled thru most of it with the same unknowns as others. One gripe, "NYC hrs should be EDT, If EST, then "NYC winter hrs. Enjoyed the recap CC. You have trouble with some English, boy I'd hate to think I had to do a puzzle in any other language. GC

Well Jayce, if you had read what I wrote on Friday and Saturday,you would have seen in the first two sentences of the 2nd paragraph, "Can't be certain though. Blogger doesn't tell us."
So how can the moderator (as you call them) "point our what was unacceptable" if the moderator doesn't know for absolute certainty. Did you not understand what I meant when I wrote "Blogger doesn't tell us." ? Let me try another way. They don't indicate, in any form or fashion, why the comment was filtered.
And, as I further explained in my comments, sometimes comments (even one word comments) end up in the filter for no apparent reason.
If you think you could do better, step up to the plate and convince CC that you should be an admin on her blog. I'd gladly let you handle all of the issues that arise because of Blogger's AI filtering.
