Good morning! (Brrrr. I hate winter.)
This one wasn't a glib glide to the bottom, more of a stutter. Still, finished in under ten, so I'm chalking it in the win column. Thanx, Sala, Amie, and Hahtoolah. (Think of "Anything else!" as "Anything but!")
AARP: You may not appreciate AARP's positions, but their Tax-Aide (free income tax preparation and filing) is a great option for young and old.
CEO: My former boss was the CIO. He said it was short for "career is over."
SEESAW: They've installed what appears to be a SEESAW at our little city park, but it's fixed in the horizontal with a spring column at the center. Doesn't look like much fun.
GUAM: Beautiful island. I spent a couple of years there, courtesy of Uncle Sam, back in the '60s. Hated to leave.
I had "Talk some Goose" . Not!
I wondered what would
be the connection that would lead to the reveal, but ultimately it was logical, although perhaps IM would say it was a little “ green paintish.”

FIR. I expected a St. Patrick's day theme, but it was just another Tuesday. Closest we got was the obscure clue for Wicked: green.
And several of the clues were somewhat obscure, but well placed perps made them doable.
I got the theme early on but it was mostly a sidebar to the solve.
But that being said, this was an enjoyable puzzle.
UPer, I lived in a "coed" dorm one summer in the mid '60s. It consisted of two towers, one for men and one for women, joined with common lounge and meal areas on the first floor. The university wasn't quite ready for "novel."
d-o Mine was a three story, men on first and third, women on second, another dorm on my side of the quad was COED the same set-up, the two others were all male, all female, shared dining area by all.
I'm going with miles. Or kilometers. Or piranhas.
I keep seeing some poor bedraggled piranha--or other fish-- arriving home at the end of the day, and DW greeting him with, "Oh, honey, did you go over the falls AGAIN?"

Just saw the clue and answer for "Girls5eva" while reading the review.
I don't recall whether I read it here at the Corner or elsewhere, but apparently Siri does not like to be addressed as Alexa. Maybe someone here with a Siri will give her a few VOICE COMMANDS addressing her as Alexa to find out if that is true.
(New) Wilmington is a borough in western PA, not far from where I grew up in Ohio. I looked to see if it was named after the city in DEL. The WikiP article didn't inform. The borough's webpage didn't have a history page.
So I queried Google with "New Wilmington (PA) name origin"
AI responded with "... likely derived from the surrounding Wilmington Township."
Great. Making progress.

The solve was as easy as pie, except for the Amaro, Reneé, and Arg, as clued, entries, but the theme reveal was a surprise. Nevertheless, it was a Tuesday level theme, if a tad simplistic.

After hearing DW's requests to SIRI get wrong answers or non answers, I've read that Apple is really attempting to make it a little 'smarter'.
The NW was the hardest for me, with AMARO and GREEN having to be filled by perps. So were RENEE, TV MOM, and MIRAMAR.
SPAS- granddaughter gave DW one of those goofy masks for Christmas; she hasn't used it yet.
I didn’t think I would FIR, but finally did with lots of erasures. Several unknowns such as RENEE, ALI, AMARO. I don’t quite get MINDS as clued. I had cares. ARID started out as arid, then sere, then back to ARID.
The theme was easy enough once I filled the reveal, though not having seen any of the Top Gun movies, TALK TO ME GOOSE seemed weird.
Dismissive call sounds like an oxymoron, in fact that was my last fill.

Hola! Luckily, I am very familiar with AARP because GREEN and AMARO are unknowns. I did not see "Wicked." And "TALK TO ME, GOOSE" was the last to fill; it sounds strange.

-I must say this was an enjoyable puzzle
-Yesterday, for some reason, I asked SIRI who became president when William Henry Harrison died. If you don't know either, I’ll post the answer at the bottom of my ramblings today.
-We all know Brer Rabbit EXCLAIMED "NOT THAT" when Brer Fox threatened to throw him into the briar patch.
-When a DJ got a GIG playing for our junior high dances, our principal always told him the songs he had better not play if he wanted to be paid. One was Mony Mony which had acquired some very raunchy alternate lyrics the kids all knew.
-A colleague asked me for a favor and I asked her, “What’s the magic word?” Her hilarious response was, “Now!”
-My uncle got a bad injury which made cold weather intolerable for him working in Omaha so he moved to California and spent decades on the grounds crew at MIRAMAR Naval Base.
-In 2026, you’re foolish if you think you are not being recorded by a CAM somewhere
-Some bars in Omaha open at 6 am on St. Paddy’s Day.
-John Tyler succeeded William Henry Harrison who died after only 31 days in office.
Top Gun is one of my favorite movies so “Talk To me Goose” almost filled itself.
And to fit Miramar ( where the movie was filmed) into the same puzzle was like a TV shopping channel bonus gift. 🎁
A bit on the easy breezy side of puzzles but thoroughly enjoyable.

1st, loved the write up, and the comics, problem is I can't remember which one I liked best...
2nd, I must apologize in advance... I discovered a helpful YouTube video where this guy helps (specifically) seniors with all the things an iPhone, or iPad can do. this one is just the basic intro, but go to his home page and look for what may be interesting to you.
One of the things that I had no idea of, was on an iPad, (which none of you apparently use...) was that you can program it to open a "quick notes" by swiping up from lower right to center. Gone are the days of trying to find a pen, and stealing DW's printer paper to take notes on how to respond to the Blog...
Well, initially, it did not work on the blog. It changed my blog keyboard into someth8ng unusable. But today it works! I don't know why! So my blog post today will be something you can file under "TLDR," (which reminds me, post smaller multi posts, up to 5, try not to annoy...)
Anywho, we no longer have a preview box, and I feel like I have prattled on forever, so, onto the next post!

Great write-up, Hahtoolah, with your usual good cartoons, too. The one with the corporate officers gave me several thoughts: Why does a CEO Chair the Board Of Directors? Isn't the BOD supposed to offer independent advice? How can it when the CEO is COB? Also, why do so many companies have so many people on the BOD? Seems like 7 or 9 GOOD, knowledgeable BOD members should be enough. Too much money spent on unneeded BODs.
Consecutive Super Bowl wins with 3 letters: ONE, TWO, SIX, TEN, all have 3 letters. Can't be one, and I know it's not 6 or 10, so that only leaves "TWO". My Packers not only won SB 1 and 2, but the two NFL Championships before that, when it wasn't yet called a "Super Bowl". Seems unfair they don't get credit for that.
Last year was the best chance the Pack had for a SB win in many years. At the beginning of the season the Pack had put together the best team in the NFL. Then, one by one, their key players got hurt. Now the Dolphins have taken Malik Willis, our 2nd string QB who I always thought should have been our first string QB: he's better than Jordan Love. We played Da Bears 3 times: twice Love was QB: we lost both games. Once Willis was QB: we won.
The Dolphins also took our defensive coach, our chief talent scout, our center, our TE Sims, safety Anderson, and one other player I can't think of. Seems half the Packer team is gonna play for the Fish this upcoming season. Oy. I can't see the Pack with another good team for several years. (Sob).
Ok, I figured out the comic I liked best, "no acronym for Dave..."

Another thing is you can program your iPad to take screenshots by swiping up to center from lower left. I didn't think much of this, as I already created a fake home button, (that I have to move around constantly, because it gets in the way.) to take screenshots. The original press home while pressing power while balancing your iPad on hands you don't have left just doesn't work... but this swipe up feature opens a screen that asks you what you want to do with this screenshot! Very helpful!

Ray-O, thanks for the weather report. (Im living it...) DW bought 10 bags of mulch to put in the landscaping, said let's not do it today, too hot! Wait til it gets cooler...(the reckoning has arrived!) I wouldn't mind so much, except I know what's going to happen. We just bought some river rocks, and apparently, I did not place them "exactly " where she wanted them. (Im dreading the mulch placement...)
