CUT. Interesting, if the offer expires after 7 days, eBay

W/O ADMAN:ADREP, EXALT:EXTOL. DNK ELENA, MAVEN. Also managed to make a mess by writing GEICO in 36D cells instead of 35D cells, where it belonged. Who recalls what GEICO is an acronym for? Hand up! Government Employees Insurance Company. It started out limiting its base to government employees of one sort or another. I had it many, many years ago as a teacher. Great write-up, Boomer, thanx. What you pointed out is so true: can’t eat this, can’t eat that, can’t drink this, can’t drink that. Alcoholic beverages have pretty much yielded to PowerAde Zero, Coca-Cola Zero, Crystal Lite and such. Although, my British neighbor has introduced me to Boddington’s Ale, which has one of those little gadgets in it that give it a head like Guinness, and I do indulge myself in a Boddington’s or a Guinness from time to time. CELL: They've been showing up on roofs in our little town recently. Don't think they'd work for us, unless we took out a whole bunch of trees. Our roof is in shade most of the day -- good for helping keep the house cool, not good for generating electricity.
Hope our NOLA contingent came through IDA with nothing worse than loss of power. Port Fourchon and Grand Isle took the direct hit. I've been to both, hitching chopper rides to oil rigs in the "Guff." They may not be the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

The Tour Championship is this coming week, the PGA Championship was earlier this year at Kiawah in SC. Yesterday's BMW championship had a wild finish- I thought I was turning it on to see the last few holes but then Dechambeau and Cantlay tied at -27 for a sudden death playoff that took 6 holes to finish! I think we had all memorized the 17th & 18th holes by the time Patrick Cantlay birdied for the win

Nice to see CC’s byline any day but nicer on Boomer’s blogging day. I noticed the Ps and the Ce endings but was throw off by the one ance vs the two ice endings. IOW, I pulled a DO and missed the theme until the reveal. (BTW, DO, your comment about Rush the other day made me think you’re campaigning for CED’s Imp title. And, where is that CED?) Anyway, the puzzle was fun to solve and, unusually for a Monday, perps were needed for Elena, Ryan, and Dirt Pies. I liked Boils above Rice and Bite next to Deli. Also liked Eels/Reels, Ali/Alt, and Cape/Aped.
Nice job, CC, thanks and thanks to Boomer for the humor and nostalgia. Sledding was one of the joys of our youth, as was ice skating on ponds in bitter-cold weather and taking refuge in a make-shift shack to thaw ourselves with a cup of hot chocolate.

Shoulda been fast, but after a very long and restless night, the solve was anything but fast. Plus, the film coverage of Ida being shown on the news had most of my attention. Did see the theme after the first two, and pretty much guessed that the reveal would be PRICE CUTS or something akin to it, such as cut prices.

As with inanehiker, yesterday afternoon I tuned into the BMW Championship late, and then got hooked as they dueled it out.

Inanehiker and WC, you are correct, of course. The coming event isn't the PGA. Phil Mickleson won that one, becoming the oldest player to ever win a PGA major tournament. He also once won the final tournament in the PGA season but lost the FedEx Cup to Tiger, due to the old points system. That formula has been changed. The winner this weekend WILL win the FedEx Cup and its $15 million prize. Also, there is no longer a separate purse for the tournament at hand. Cantlay starts the tournament at 10 under par, Bryson will start at 7 under par, the lowest 4 start at even par. Lowest score at the end of the tourney wins.

Great theme with everybody watching PRICEs bounce around these days. I saw the PR right after the second showed up, but needed the reveal to complete the word. This went fast for me and filled pretty easily, but my computer jumps around and really adds about twice the time.

Agree with the above comments about ACADIA. One of its main features, Cadillac Mountain, has an elevation of 1500+ ft and his the highest prominence on the N. American east coast between Cape Breton Island and Mexico. It presents a strong radar signal at least 90 miles out into the Bay of Fundy, and so, is a useful navigational feature.
With my ball point pen barely clicked open I botched the first entry . I inked in item instead of TASK, then perped with adman instead of ADREP. But then smooth sailing 'cept for the theme. kept scratching my head. (not a good habit when you're on a blood thinner)....wait... wait.. I got it... cut out everything but P-R-I-C-E from each theme answer. 😁 Today's is an example of how themes don't get more difficult as the week progresses they can start the week that way, this one was for me anyhoo.🤔

PK, Alan is here for most Saturdays and Sundays and will vacation with David and me for one week this summer.
He is on a ground diet except for foods like ice cream and pudding. I am successfully solving the problem while he is here by less extreme means.
I serve most foods normally, but I cut up a few of them toddler style. I watch every mouthful, insisting on small bites, one at a time, and completely emptying his mouth before taking another bite. It makes meals more appealing to him and saves me food processing everything.
His medicine dehydrates him and he must drink once or twice an hour. He can get the drinks himself, but I must thicken each one and watch that he doesn't chugalug. It means my popping up every time I sit down. Then he asks for numerous outings. I love having him here, but at my age I can only take this process on weekends.
Spilt or spilled? I read that both are acceptable, but spilled is more common in the US and the use of spilt is declining, as is dreamt, learnt, spelt, etc.

I sailed through this one with only a little trouble in the south-middle corner. But with FLIMSY and EVIL it all filled in. Remembered Laila ALI's boxing legacy. Fun to get XEROX in a puzzle. Took me a bit to figure out how to spell GEICO. But it all worked out in the end.

Boomer, I am no way an expert on cars but these vehicles that shut off then start up at stops must be irritating. Plus my minimal understanding is that each start up uses up fuel unless I s'pose it's a long idle.

I had never been to Maine growing up back East. Had to wait until I was living in California to make it back there. The history of ACADIA NATIONAL PARK is fascinating. It was funded by oil barons who feared that the automobile would destroy natural areas. They would know! ACADIA NATIONAL PARK does not allow any motorized vehicles! It is best enjoyed by bicycle.

Boomer, I meant to comment this morning, but, what Dash T said about the stop/start technology used by car manufacturer's these day to save fuel. DW finds it annoying, believes it adds undue wear on the starter, and can't possibly save much fuel for the limited driving that she does. So she found the setting in the owner's manual or she asked at the dealer. Turns out it's just a push button to turn it off, and it's the first thing she does after starting her car. I don't drive her car much so I forget, but she'll remind when we go somewhere together in her and I'm driving.
Irish Miss, my mother's mother was my grandmother. My grandmother's mother was my great-grandmother.
Right or wrong, I apply the same generational titles going the other way.
My sister's daughter is my niece. My niece's daughter is my grandniece. My grandniece's daughter is my great-grandniece. And I can't believe she's started her second year of college.

I made DIRT Cake with gummy worms for my son’s birthday party one year (in a clean new hanging flower basket and served with a clean new trowel). All those little boys loved it! (As I recall, it had crushed OREOs on top of the whipped cream.)

Ray - O @11:13 AM "PRAYER SERVICE" is a pretty broad term and can include not only the Mass, but also any of the hours of the "Divine Office" (aka Liturgy of the Hours), as well as a "Communion Service" (the term you're looking for I think). The latter has most of the elements of the Mass (Penitential Rite, Readings, Intercessions, Lord's prayer, etc.), except for the Eucharistic Prayer, which of course can only be said by a Priest. Communion Services can be conducted either by Eucharist Ministers or Deacons. If conducted by a Deacon he can also include a homily. DW and I conducted many of them at a local Senior facility pre-pandemic and we're still waiting for them to re-open.
Picard @12:18 PM Robert, I absolutely LOVED the pics of Acadia, which brought back many FOND memories! We've vacationed there twice and I recognized many of the sites we saw in your pics. One of my favorite memories was seeing and hearing my first LOON on an early morning hike around Jordan Pond. Such beautiful birds and such an ETHEREAL song. I'm not sure if we'll ever go back, especially as we've heard that the "Opera House", a fabulous restaurant, has closed. I don't recall the exact name, but they served a steak dish stuff in a pastry, named for Rosa Ponselle (Wellington Ponselle?), truly worthy of LA DIVINA. Ah, memories.
Waseeley, it depends on how you define "US." Guam's motto is "Where America's day begins." Their official greeting is "håfa adai," similar to Hawaii's "aloha." It's also their work preference. It's pronounced "half-a-day."

Canada Eh, We left Acadia National Park and took the ferry from Bar Harbor Me. to Nova Scotia, Never made it to New Brunswick. Curious why the Latin name "Nova Scotia" instead of "New Scotland" for the province. Other countries refer to it in their own translation of New Scotland like "Nouvelle Écosse" or "Nuova Scozia" Just sayin'

Since I lived in New England during part of my youthful years I took a lot of this scenery for granted. It is true that we don't have these scenes in California. There is a trade-off. The NORTHEAST is very lush. But our California desert landscape allows broad, open vistas. Hard to have both!
With all the talk of Cadillac Mountain I will add that the first photo in my set is at the top of Cadillac Mountain. Of course, where I live now it would just be called a "hill"!

There is a science-fiction story from, maybe, 60 or 70 years ago, about an electronic, robotic ass (roboass in the story) who is the mentor for the man who was to become pope. The story was set on Mount Diablo just east of Danville in East Bay California. Beyond that, memory fails, but the roboass was an electronic monk, of sorts.

WC thanks for the music. I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to Alan's visits. We have fun. My problem with the visits is not my nerves, but my stamina for performing all the regimens. I am slowing down. About being a grandma, my mom used to say, "Now I know why God gives babies to the young." But, she loved our kids. She did have six of her own.
Picard, thanks for the lovely Acadia pictures and the fond memories of the beautiful scenery and the yummy lobsters. Did you take pictures of the summer "cottages" of the wealthy?
YR: So sorry to hear about Alan's problems with eating & drinking. Bless you for your good-mother's heart wanting to take good care of him and have him in your home. Does he have Parkinson's? My sis-in-law had to do a similar routine with my brother who had Parkinson's. I know what you mean about the lack of stamina being aggravating after a life-time of being an active doer.
