When You Are So Beautiful first came out, my then-girlfriend and her sister both hated it. They were both professional singers, and they thought it was noncreative and as cheap as the audience participation so many groups do in concert. FYI, I have a chemistry degree with additional studies in BOTH meteorology and and geology and rest assured I know a lot more factual information than most people about the so-called 'greenhouse effect' that morphed into 'global warming' that somehow became 'climate change'.
The climate has always changed, long before any human ever existed. Does burning fossil fuels contribute? A little but I'm fairly certain that the earth has been warming ever since the last Ice Age ended. Cause by anybody's guess- sun flares, wobbling of the earth's axis, plate tectonics causing shifting ocean gyres, reversing polarity of the earth's magnetic field...etc.
If humans have anything to do with changing the climate it is due to OVERPOPULATION. So before you call names get back on your horse and eat all your food uncooked so you can practice what you preach.

Gary, you reminded me of the bad old days of literal carbon copies. Our purchase order letters had to be made with an original and four copies. The copies were all different colors, like yellow for engineering, pink for legal, blue for purchasing, and grey to the originator (the distribution might not be right, but the concept is). The typists used four different colors of wite out.
The (sole) fax machine and Telex were located and controlled by the repro/mail department. Need a computer printout? No problem, just requisition it from GTE Data Services in Marina del Rey and pick it up as soon as a couple of days later.
We accessed the GTEDS minicomputer through dumb terminals that cost more than $2,000 each. But I'm glad that I earned RJE because it was a good lesson in disciplined thinking.

I'm always happy to see CC's byline and always curious to see what her creative abilities have come up with. After a couple of theme entries, I saw the Eco, but the reveal was still impressive. Ophelia was slow in coming because I was seeing Harriet instead of Hamlet. My lack of Star Wars knowledge required perps for Phasers and ARTOO, and I was also in the dark about Koan and MCA. On the plus side, though, I finally remembered that pesky little three word college, Coe, and my guess of Moana was correct. Yay! Learning moment was that Islam is Dr. Oz's religion, which I confidently entered as Hindu, thinking he was Indian; he's of Turkish decent. Nice CSO to Tin at _ _ _.

When David was in school the teacher asked the kids to make sock puppets, but gave no directions. There was no internet in those days and David and I had no idea how to make one. I winged it and instructed David. It turned out okay.

Crosswords skip apostrophes, spaces between words, and tildes and other diacritical marks. If these had to match across and down, it would make the construction extremely more difficult.
CED, the weird spelling in papier-mâché didn't throw me today. I looked at the strange characters as blanks, as in Wheel of Fortune on TV. I guessed it immediately with no need of perps. Ya gotta laugh.
R2D2 and C3PO are the names of the droids. Why is it acceptable to spell "artoo"? I may be able to tolerate "rtwo" or maybe even "artwo", but "artoo"?

My point is why is she here? The biggest decline in CO2 emissions in 2018 came from the United States. The U.S.'s performance contrasts with that of the European Union, whose carbon dioxide emissions increased by 1.8 percent last year. If she wanted to address the problem, Brussels would be more appropriate. She was already in Europe. Better yet, why not Beijing or New Delhi, capitals where there is low-hanging fruit for improvement? We know why - TV coverage is much more powerful here.
The fact is that there is a reason not to take policy direction from children. We don't trust them to make their own decisions on voting, firearms, alcohol, tobacco, contracts, who to have sex with, and we even wipe their criminal record in most cases because they were too young to fully understand what they were doing. This was a workout for me after the easy-peasy CW yesterday.
I saw the CO but not the E, and since I had Phasar, ECO did not appear (hello Jayce). D'OH.
This Canadian did not know DHL (I thought of UPS) or LARUSSA; I have to remember SOLO cups from CWs; AP SCORE is not common here; KOAN was unknown.
I changed CEO to MGR, and waited for COCKER to decide between EEG, ECG or EKG.
AHCHOO is a variant spelling of the more common Achoo (even Owen used the latter!)

We may have had Campbell's Pepper Pot soup in Canada for a while after it was discontinued in the USA, but it seems to be unavailable now. I don't remember ever eating it. But there are plenty of recipes online (some with sausage instead of TRIPE).

Did the puzzle earlier, but my wife and I went to a movie. We saw "Downton Abbey". We both thought it was great.
To the puzzle. Was happy to see a C.C. puzzle again. Got through this fairly easily. A few hang ups but that is fine for a Wednesday.
Caught the theme after 60A. Saw the ECO easily in all of them.
Liked IPA at 13A. I also liked Jazzbumpa's example of Two-Hearted Ale. I have had many of those and really like them. Great IPA! Also from Michigan.
Not sure what SOLO CUP is used for. Have no idea what beer pong is. Must be a bar game.
KOAN made no sense to me. I am not into ZEN either. Thank you, perps.
45D TOASTER was a good one. I like toast, but burned black. My wife likes toast tan colored. When I leave it on dark, I really catch the dickens from her. Oh well.
